Utah native Reva Bosone accomplished a number of firsts in her home state. She was the first woman to serve as a municipal judge in Salt Lake City, the first woman elected to the state legislature, and the first woman in the House from Utah. Elected to Congress in 1948, her primary legislative interests were land management and Native American rights, which she actively pursued from her seat on the Public Lands Committee. She returned to her law practice after leaving Congress in 1953.
