Newly appointed Chairman of the House Committee on Un-American Activities Edwin Willis examines archival records of the Committee’s investigations. Willis, who presided as Chairman from 1963 through 1968, launched an investigation of the Ku Klux Klan in 1965 that resulted in a contempt of Congress charge and jail time for the Klan’s leader. Willis served in the House for 20 years, until he lost his re-election bid in 1968.
