Unusually, the portrait of Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Edolphus Towns shows the subject in his home district, rather than in Washington. Artist Vincent Chiaramonte posed Towns in the Chairman’s Brooklyn office, with his nameplace just visible on the desk at the lower edge of the painting. The U.S. flag that anchors the right side of the portrait is reflected in the desk’s highly–polished top.
