This satirical cartoon, in the upper part of a page filled with advertisements for billiards and bicycles, comments on the slow pace of action in congressional investigations. The caption, in the words of the messenger at the door, asks “Is your report ready, gentlemen? The House waits.” The cartoonist adds below that the “pitiable wreck” of a committee that has brawled itself into a state of collapse “scarcely justifies the expectation of a very speedy report.”
