Passes for inaugurations sometimes led spectators to unusual places. This example admitted the bearer to a seat on the roof, for the 1965 inauguration of President Lyndon B. Johnson. Color-coding helped the Sergeant at Arms’ staff direct visitors to the proper locations in the hours leading up to the ceremonies.
