Buck McKeon served as Chairman of the Education and the Workforce Committee during the 109th Congress. His portrait was painted by Dean Paules, who also executed the painting of a previous Chairman, Bill Goodling. In this work, an elephant figurine that alludes to his membership in the Republican party is close at hand, with a reproduction of Arnold Friberg’s 1975 painting The Prayer at Valley Forge is visible in the background.
