British artist Paul Benney’s portrait of Chairman Bart Gordon was unveiled for the Committee on Science and Technology in 2010. Benney’s portrait eschews descriptive details and presents the figure in a painterly, dramatically lit fashion. The casually posed Gordon emerges from a dark background, but dissolves into the canvas in the bottom quarter of the painting.
