Representative Clarence Lea; Senators Wallace White, Jr.; Burton Wheeler; Kenneth McKellar; and Speaker of the House Sam Rayburn joined Federal Communications Commission Chairman Paul Porter and CBS announcer Bill Henry in 1946 to tape the first promotional footage to be broadcast from the Capitol to New York. Routine broadcast of floor proceedings in their entirety started in 1979.
