Congressman Charles Stedman (left) was feted on the occasion of his 85th birthday by Speaker Nicholas Longworth and fellow Members of the House. Stedman was nearly 70 years old when he was elected to the House in 1910 and was the last Civil War veteran to serve in Congress.
