New Hampshire Congressman Arthur Jenks reacted strongly to the news that after a full year of service, his opponent in a contested election for the First District was the winner of the seat. Jenks vowed to win “for keeps” in the election slated for September 1938. True to his word, he won, serving the House until 1943.
