In the 21st century, accompanying the growth in video coverage of committee hearings, chairman portraits began to include elements from the hearings rooms. In this portrait, Government Reform Committee Chairman Tom Davis stands before the dais. His chair, in the background, is turned to one side, as if Davis has just left his seat. The brass decorations, affixed to walnut panels, are the same classical elements found in many hearing rooms in the Rayburn House Office Building.
