This pass was for a Joint Meeting that didn’t happen. Due to the circumstances following the attacks on September 11, 2001, the September 12 address by Australian Prime Minister John Howard scheduled before a Joint Meeting of Congress in the House Chamber was cancelled. In announcing the postponement, Speaker Dennis Hastert extended “on behalf of the House, his appreciation for the solidarity of the Australian people and the presence of the Prime Minister today in this very difficult time.”
