Bernard Godwin painted this portrait of Morris Sheppard after he left the House. The artist based the likeness on a photograph of Sheppard from about the time of his chairmanship of the Public Buildings and Grounds Committee. A successful portrait artist, Godwin trained with his father, Maximilian Nogida, beginning at the age of five with palette-cleaning and brush-scrubbing.
