William Green’s modestly sized portrait commemorating his chairmanship of the Ways and Means Committee was painted by Orland Campbell in 1928. Green is shown bust-length, emerging from a dark background. Campbell was known both for his portraits and his art research, including his discovery and conservation of a lost Gilbert Stuart portrait of Thomas Jefferson in 1959.
