Tom Bliley chose a fellow Virginian, Louis Briel, to paint his portrait as Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee. Bliley wears his trademark bowtie and holds his oft-seen tobacco pipe. Appropriately for both subject and artist, the Virginia flag is visible in the background, alongside the American flag.
