The portrait of Jim Hansen commemorating his service as Chairman of the Resources Committee was unveiled in 2002, near the close of Hansen’s congressional service. It shows the Chairman holding a gavel and seated in a tufted red “Turkish” chair. The chairs were ordered in 1908 to furnish the House’s first offices for Members, in what is now the Cannon House Office Building. An American flag anchors the left edge of the portrait.
