Washington, D.C., artist Lloyd Embry painted four portraits for the House of Representatives, and this was his personal favorite. He said Government Operations Chairman Chet Holifield was “particularly pleasant to work with—just a delightful person and I am very pleased with this painting.” The subject was not only affable but also well turned-out. The pinstripe suit, brass-buttoned vest and embroidered handkerchief, are exactly what one would expect from the longtime haberdasher.
