The portrait of Committee on Government Reform Chairman Dan Burton was the first painting in the House Collection to depict the House Chamber. The subject stands in the well of the House, at the lectern traditionally used by Republicans. The rostrum, with its laurel wreath carvings, is just visible in the background.
