Victor Lallier depicted “Doc” Morgan as he was early in his chairmanship. The painting was unveiled, however, in 1965, when Morgan had held the position for only a few years. He stands before a flag, a typical pose for official portraits, and is dressed in a sober black suit. Despite the unassuming nature of the subject as painted, Morgan was physically imposing. He stood 6 feet 4 inches, making him one of the tallest House Members.
