Kansan Pat Roberts served as chairman of the House Agriculture Committee for a single term before running for the Senate. His portrait emphasizes his role in agricultural policy, with the bronze statuette of a rancher behind him. As in many portraits, his loyalty to country and state are denoted by the flags in the background. Intriguingly, Roberts sits in a chair that was designed in 1909 for the Senate, not the House.
