Collection of the U.S. House of Representatives, Gift of George A. Weaver
This small booklet from 1957 belonged to House Page George Weaver. Before electronic voting was introduced in 1973, an alphabetical list of Members was a handy way to follow along during roll call votes. A clerk would read out the name of each Representative, who responded by calling out yea, nay, or present. During Weaver’s time as a Page, each recorded vote took around 30 minutes—sometimes longer.
