Object Details

For more than 40 years, Harry Parker worked for the Ways and Means Committee. A devoted and tireless staff member, Parker continued serving Congress despite heath issues. In 1937, the House—unusually—voted 340 to 0 to provide him with a pension, enabling him to retire. On the House Floor, Representative Arthur Mitchell noted that Parker “has rendered so many years of service to his fellow man and to his country, and has done so because of his love for his fellow man, his loyalty to his country, and his faithfulness to every trust.”
