Artist Moses Dykaar sculpted the House’s bust of Speaker Nicholas Longworth. Sittings began in the Speaker’s office, but Dykaar found the light unsuitable for his work. A curator found him studio space at the Smithsonian, where this photograph was snapped. Completed in 1930, the bust came to the House two years later, shortly after Longworth’s death.
