Object Details

Practice, practice, practice. This model of a gear-and-lever voting machine let citizens rehearse its mechanics before they ever stepped in the voting booth. Pulling the red lever mimicked the act of closing a voting booth curtain, and each little white lever represented a vote for a given candidate. Most of the names on this demonstration model were not politicians. A few were Pennsylvania state candidates, but not for any of the offices listed for here.
