Bill Jacobsen came from a political family; after his father Bernhard’s death, he held the same seat in Congress. But before that, he was a banker, store owner, and gym teacher in Clinton, Iowa. The simple design of his campaign poster with his name in large red letters suggests that Jacobsen had no need to spell out his views. Given his long association with Clinton, perhaps his background was already well known in the community.
