Representative Edward Wason distributed tiny rectagular lapel pins to supporters in his New Hampshire district. He first came to Congress in 1915, and was already well acquainted with how a legislature worked. In his home state, Wason had served as a state representative as well as the sergeant at arms and clerk of the New Hampshire senate.
