Ads for the Hotel Congressional touted it as “ideal for business men who can’t afford to waste time,” forgetting the equally time-pressed Congresswomen who stayed there in the 1950s: Florence Dwyer, Cecil Harden, Grace Pfost, and Elizabeth Andrews. The House eventually acquired the building for use as office space. In 2002, after decades of hard use, it was demolished.
