Thanks to its location next to the House’s office buildings, the Hotel Congressional was a favored home for many Representatives. In 1957, the Congress acquired the building, and in the 1970s converted it to workspace for, among other offices, the Judiciary Committee’s Nixon impeachment inquiry staff.
