When William Ben Cravens died in office in 1939, his son, William Fadjo Cravens, ran for his seat in the September special election. This postcard, with its familiar “Dear Friend” salutation on the reverse, positioned Cravens as a known quantity in the Arkansas district in which he grew up. The successful campaign was followed by four re-elections through the 1940s.
