Jackson Betts was a long serving Representative who called himself “a country congressman” when he sent this campaign postcard to his constituents in the 1960s. His message on the back did not touch his signature issue, census reform. The census, he argued, had overstepped its constitution mandate of counting the population, by asking questions that are ever more detailed.
