The message on this campaign postcard has the cadence of a stump speech, repeating the same phrase seven times to present West Virginian Harry Woodyard’s platform. As well as his stated support of “strict economy” and lower taxes, Woodyard’s commitment to “oppose any political alliances with foreign nations” was well known and intermittently successful. He won and lost his congressional seat several times between 1902 and 1926.
