Franklin Menges was a three-term Representative when the Pennsylvania Republican Party printed this handbill. The exhortation to vote a “straight…ticket” urged constituents to vote only for one party’s candidates. The term appears on many party campaign flyers and buttons. The opposite approach, in which voters choose aspirants from one party for some offices and from another party for others, is called a “split ticket.”
