Donald Nicholson had been in Congress less than a year when he distributed this campaign ink blotter exhorting constituents to reward his “faithful service.” He was elected in late November 1947 to fill the vacancy caused by the death of his predecessor. His legislative experience was extensive, however. He served in public office beginning in 1920, in positions as varied as president of the Massachusetts state senate and the Wareham, Massachusetts, “overseer of the poor.”
