Most congressional campaign ink blotters were printed in businesslike black and white, but Bill McCulloch preferred bright colors and comic book–inspired typefaces. The connection between McCulloch’s Ohio district and voters’ chance to “send an experienced legislator back . . . to Congress” was reinforced by a district map on the left and the U.S. Capitol on the right.
