Collection of the U.S. House of Representatives, Gift of Jimilu Mason
Object Details
This small-scale statue of Texan Sam Rayburn, the longest-serving Speaker in the House’s history, depicts him as he frequently appeared, in a coat and tie, wearing a fedora with a brim so wide it was almost a cowboy hat. Artist Jimilu Mason made this sculpture as a model for a never executed life-size statue of Rayburn.
