Object Details

Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine devoted 18 pages and eight original illustrations to Congress in the June 1902 issue. The article discussed how Congress functioned, from legislation to party politics. In addition to the ever-popular depictions of Speaker Thomas Brackett Reed, Representatives at their desks, and constituents lobbying their Congressmen, the accompanying prints showed parts of the House that readers rarely saw in illustrated news journals: the Press Gallery, a subcommittee meeting, and a conference committee in action.
