Every two years, before the start of a Congress, new Members familiarize themselves with legislative rules, the House’s history and traditions, how to hire staff, and a host of other responsibilities. An intense week of training begins with the New Member Orientation in November. This poster was used to direct newly elected Representatives in 2002, almost a century after the first orientations were held in the 1920s.
