Object Details

Future Representative Allyson Schwartz was a decade into her career in the Pennsylvania state senate when she used this bandanna as part of her unsuccessful campaign for the Democratic nomination to the U.S. Senate in 2000. "In the state senate I liked to wear scarves," Schwartz later recalled. "To make a joke on that, we wanted to find something that was like a scarf but unisex." Schwartz lost her primary campaign, and four years later she ran successfully for the House of Representatives.
