New floor plans for the overcrowded Cannon House Office Building were drawn up in 1929 when the House approved construction of a second building—the future Longworth House Office Building. The expansion allowed a bit more space for each Representative, so single-room offices in Cannon were reconfigured into two-room suites alongside the new construction.
