Collection of the U.S. House of Representatives, Gift of Mrs. Kathleen Rutledge
Object Details
About a year into his five-year career as a House Page, 12-year-old Albert Pillsbury had this photograph taken, possibly in his Page uniform. Albert left his home in Chelsea, Massachusetts, and arrived at the Capitol in 1862. Here, he copied speeches, delivered messages, and ran other errands for Members of Congress, along with the other boys working on the House Floor.
