A few Representatives, including Errett Scrivner of Kansas, dabbled in the visual arts. Scrivner painted an oil portrait of Appropriations Committee Chairman George Mahon. “This,” Scrivner told the committee, “is a follow-up of some of my early-day practice I got here sitting on the committee sketching witnesses and members.”
