Shortly after accepting the 1912 Democratic nomination for President, Woodrow Wilson invited more than 100 Members of Congress to his summer cottage in Sea Girt, New Jersey. Seated in the rocking chair at left, Wilson smiled at his visitors. Speaker Champ Clark, who had lost the nomination to Wilson, scowled, slumped in the rocking chair to his right.
