During his first term in Congress, Oklahoma Representative Victor Wickersham reviewed mail with W.T. Jeter, Margaret Hughes, and Nell Strother, his office staff. Although Wickersham complained about his congressional salary being too low, he ran for office many times from the 1940s through the 1960s.
