Two weeks ahead of their softball match with the press, several players meet to practice outside the East Front of the Capitol. Leo Allen and Karl Mundt observe, while team captain Pius Schwert catches, and Thomas D’Alesandro takes a turn at bat. Their enthusiasm did not, however, lead them to victory that year. Congress lost to the press, 15-7.
