This clock was one of hundreds distributed throughout the Capitol complex and linked to official timekeeping in the House Chamber. Some clocks had lights on their faces that were used to alert Representatives to votes occurring in the Chamber; instead, this example was installed above a separate row of lights in the shape of stars that served the same purpose.
