Pages were high school students who attended classes at an on-site school and worked to assist in the smooth running of the House. Their duties were varied, but in the 20th and early 21st centuries, the distribution of flags from the Capitol’s Flag Office was a constant. Members’ offices regularly distributed flags flown over the Capitol to local schools, institutions, and other constituents as keepsakes. In 2011, the House Pages used this canvas cart to transport flags through the corridors of the House Office Buildings, signing it like a yearbook to commemorate their service.
