The Rayburn building was not lauded for its architectural beauty, but the train was a long-sought amenity for the House. Although headlines like “Members of the House Need Walk to Work No Longer” mocked this particular convenience, the House had held out longer than the Senate. That body installed a commute-shortening train 57 years earlier.
