Drinking (ginger ale) on the job? Twenty-first century excavations in the Cannon House Office Building revealed several bottle fragments in an old building trench. F. H. Finley & Son, a local bottler, made this one. Finley had been distributing beer in the capital city since the 1870s. However, by the time the House built its first office building in the early 1900s, the company also made soft drinks, including ginger ale and soda water.
