Robert Shamansky was a vital, successful, and familiar face in Columbus, Ohio, civic life for decades. With his local family history, law career, and real estate deals, it was no surprise that he used the slogan “Because Bob Shamansky Makes Sense” on this campaign tab. He became more well-known, but less successful politically, when he took on the tobacco lobby and the powerful Speaker of the Ohio statehouse. Shamansky found himself redistricted into a more difficult geography in 1982, losing the election to John Kasich.
