When Chase Going Woodhouse was a child, her grandmother took her to the polls on Election Day although women did not yet have the right to vote. “As a taxpayer I regret I will have no say in how my taxes are spent,” her grandmother said. “But you will have the vote.” Inspired by these words, Woodhouse became involved in politics. She represented Connecticut in the House of Representatives in the 79th and 81st Congresses.
